Our firm congratulates partner Chris Arbery on joining the in-house legal team of one of his long-time clients. After 25 years of working in some of Atlanta’s best law firms, Chris has decided to take on this new and exciting challenge. Although we cannot thank Chris enough for his dedication to his clients and our firm, we could not be more excited for Chris and his family as they begin their next chapter.
With Chris’s departure, the firm will be operating under a new name: HALL, GILLIGAN, ROBERTS & SHANLEVER, LLP. We will roll out an updated logo and website, and new email addresses, in the near future.
Established in 2010, HGRS LLP has steadily expanded to 14 lawyers working in four offices across Georgia and Florida. We continue to specialize in litigation, contracts, and legal counseling in employment, workplace, and business-related matters. She received her law degree at the Mercer University – Walter F. George School of Law, where she was Co-Editor of the Mercer Intraschool Mock Trial Competition, President of the Association of Veteran Students, and a law clerk for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Middle District of Georgia. Before law school, Jennifer served six years in the U.S. Air Force and four years in the Georgia Air National Guard as an Instructor and Airborne Missions Systems Specialist. Hall, Arbery, Gilligan, Robert & Shanlever LLP has secured a complete defense verdict for its client, a nationally acclaimed sports organization, following a five-day jury trial before Chief Judge Robert C. I. McBurney in Fulton County Superior Court (Atlanta, Georgia). HAGRS’s trial team of partner Matt Gilligan and associates Elizabeth Newton and Brian Abrams defended their client against defamation and other claims asserted by the Plaintiff (another business). The Plaintiff sought over $1.6 million in damages. After five days of trial testimony, the Jury rendered a complete defense verdict after less than 2 hours of deliberations.

HAGRS LLP recently obtained a grant of Summary Judgment and a complete dismissal of a lawsuit alleging that its client, a national financial institution, discriminated against the plaintiff (a current employee) on the basis of her race. The plaintiff alleged that our client failed to promote her to a senior management position. HAGRS Partner Wit Hall and associate Thomas Cox represented our client through extensive discovery proceedings and then filed the Motion for Summary Judgment. U.S. District Court Judge Amy Totenberg granted the motion, adopting a favorable Report & Recommendation issued by U.S. Magistrate Judge Russell G. Vineyard.
