Dave Roberts is a Partner of Hall, Gilligan, Roberts & Shanlever LLP and maintains his practice in both the Firm’s Atlanta and Seagrove Beach, Florida offices. An experienced and accomplished Georgia and Florida employment litigation attorney, Dave’s practice primarily involves the representation of clients in the areas of restrictive covenant litigation and drafting (non-compete, non-solicitation, non-recruitment and non-disclosure agreements), general employment contract litigation and drafting, trade secret cases, employment discrimination, and harassment litigation, employment-related torts, wage and hour disputes, and general business contract disputes.
While Dave has over 24 years of private practice experience in many different areas of employment law, his Georgia non-compete agreement and Florida non-compete agreement practices are especially highly regarded and Dave is known for his significant level of experience, expertise, and courtroom abilities handling Florida and Georgia non-compete agreement cases. Additionally, Dave litigates, drafts, and negotiates non-compete agreements in many other jurisdictions as part of his broad non-compete and employment law practice.
Prior to becoming a Partner at HGRS, Dave was the Managing Partner of The Roberts Firm, P.C. where he focused his practice in the areas of Florida and Georgia non-compete agreement law, employment law, and business litigation matters. Prior to founding his own firm, Dave limited his practice to Florida and Georgia non-compete agreement law and employment law matters as an attorney for Greenberg Traurig, LLP, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious law firms. Dave’s non-compete agreement and employment practice at Greenberg Traurig including the representation of Fortune500 companies across the country in matters relating to non-compete law and agreements and other employment law matters. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Dave was an attorney at two of the top employment law firms in the nation, Fisher Phillips, LLP, and Seyfarth Shaw LLP. While at these firms, Dave also practiced exclusively in the areas of Florida and Georgia non-compete agreement and employment law. Prior to entering private practice in 1996 with Broad and Cassel in Tallahassee, Florida, Dave gained significant jury trial experience as an Assistant State Attorney in Leon County, Florida where he prosecuted drug-related offenses and other crimes.
Dave is licensed and practices non-compete and employment law in all state courts in Georgia and Florida as well as in federal courts in Georgia and Florida. Dave also represents clients nationally in non-compete matters and other employment law and business litigation matters.
Dave received his law degree in 1994 from the University of Texas School of Law, and his undergraduate degree from Florida State University which he attended on a football scholarship as a Tight End for the legendary Bobby Bowden. During his playing career at FSU, Dave was a four-year letterman, Academic All-American, and was awarded an NCAA post-graduate scholarship to attend law school. His career highlights included four consecutive major bowl victories including a Sugar and two Fiesta Bowl wins, a 4-0 record versus the University of Florida, a single-game receiving record for FSU Tight Ends, and catching the winning touchdown pass for FSU in 1989 in their win over rival The University of Florida.
Born and raised in Griffin, Georgia, Dave and his wife Courtney have a son, Cade (17), and a daughter, Libby (14).
